About Sonic Auto Logistics LLC
Car lot owners in Mexico who buy at U.S. auctions are the customers Sonic Auto Logistics LLC is built around. The Boerne, Texas, auto transport broker picks vehicles up at Copart, IAAI, Manheim and other auction yards in any U.S. state and moves them south to the border. Its website is in Spanish, and quotes go through WhatsApp.
Border delivery is only half of what Sonic sells. Its Full Service package adds legalization through a certified customs partner, with the crossing made at Hidalgo, Texas, and then carries the car, already nationalized, to your lot anywhere in Mexico. The company says that covers the import filing (the pedimento), taxes and duties, and the NOM-194-SCFI-2015 standard. If you have your own customs agent, the basic Border Transfer service stops at the crossing you pick, from Tijuana and Nogales to Ciudad Juárez, Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa and Matamoros.
Not every auction car qualifies. According to Sonic's FAQ, a vehicle has to be at least 5 years old (in 2026, that usually means 2016 to 2018 models), built in the U.S., Canada or Mexico under USMCA rules, and free of any theft report. Luxury, electric and armored cars are out. The company also says Mexico's special program for regularizing undocumented used cars ended on January 1, 2026, so every import now goes through the formal process.
There's no automated tracking portal. Sonic says its team updates you directly at each stage, from auction pickup to the border crossing and final delivery. It doesn't publish prices, deposits or cancellation fees online, and its site states it won't pay auction storage charges.
Sonic arranges the trip, and a partner carrier does the hauling. The company says every carrier it uses must hold active cargo insurance, and that policy is what covers your vehicle on the road.
Sonic Auto Logistics is registered in Boerne, Texas, and its federal record begins in 2023. The company holds active FMCSA broker authority (USDOT 4057457, MC-1538854). FMCSA lists it separately from Sonic Auto Transportation, a California broker with a similar name.
