About Ship a Car Direct Inc.
Open and enclosed car shipping is the core of what Ship a Car Direct Inc., a car shipping broker in Hygiene, Colorado, books for its customers. It also arranges door-to-door delivery, express auto transport and classic car moves across the 48 contiguous states. For Hawaii, it trucks your car to or from the port in Long Beach, California, and an ocean line such as Matson or Pasha handles the sea leg.
If the carrier's insurer refuses a valid damage claim, Ship a Car Direct pays up to $500. Its terms call this the Damage Free Guarantee. You file with the carrier and its insurance company first, get denied, then show proof of the repair or of the deductible you paid on your own policy. A $1,000 deductible still tops out at $500. The guarantee page adds that you must report damage within 24 hours of delivery, and mechanical problems and pre-existing marks are excluded.
You pay nothing to book. The terms say the service fee is charged only after a carrier is assigned and confirmed. Cancel after that and you owe $100. If no carrier is found within 7 days of your first available pickup date, you can walk away free. The balance goes to the driver at delivery in cash or a cashier's check. Non-running vehicles add $150, and a car that isn't ready at pickup can trigger a $100 dry-run fee.
Coast-to-coast moves average 7 to 10 days in transit, according to its FAQ. A correctly priced order usually gets picked up within a day or two of your first available date. The terms still treat any pickup date you give as a request.
Ship a Car Direct never takes possession of your vehicle. The carrier's cargo policy is primary, and you can ask for the carrier's insurance certificate and operating authority on request.
