About GetCarrier LLC
Freight and car shipping run side by side at GetCarrier LLC, a transport broker based in Dover, Delaware. Next to open car shipping and enclosed auto transport, it books drayage, full and partial truckloads, intermodal, expedited and last-mile freight. The company says it covers all 50 states. For Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico, you pay the ocean leg yourself before the car reaches the port.
GetCarrier doesn't charge your card until the car is actually on the truck. Once a carrier is assigned, the deposit is only authorized, and the charge goes through after pickup. From that point it's non-refundable. The balance goes to the driver in cash, a cashier's check or a money order. Paying the full price by card adds a 4% service charge.
Changes have set prices in its contract. GetCarrier gets 5 business days to assign a carrier, and cancelling inside that window costs $75. Book the same car with another broker and the fee is $150. Refusing an assigned carrier, at least 24 hours before pickup, costs $75. A dry run is $200, a car that quits running mid-trip adds $150, and port pickups or deliveries add $100. If no carrier picks up within those 5 business days, you can walk away with no penalty. Cancellations only count when sent in writing by email.
Quotes are estimates until a driver confirms them. If carriers come back higher, GetCarrier passes those offers to you to accept or reject, and the contract guarantees no pickup or delivery date.
GetCarrier books licensed carriers and doesn't run its own trucks. The carrier's insurance covers your vehicle, and the contract asks you to confirm that policy with the carrier before you sign the bill of lading.
