Direct Express Auto Transport
Direct Express Auto Transport has a TrustScore of 55/100 and a rating of Mixed. Its federal broker authority is active, and the reviews we read show real praise for communication, delivery timing, pickup timing, and vehicle condition. The tradeoff is that there are also meaningful complaints about issue resolution, communication, and timing, so the evidence does not support a Trusted result. It has 1,655 counted reviews across Google, Trustpilot, and BBB, with the newest review from July 2026. The mix of strong praise and recurring complaints keeps the result in Mixed rather than higher.

Held by the carrier, not Direct Express Auto Transport. If your vehicle is damaged, the claim goes against the carrier’s policy. Always photograph the vehicle before handoff and document any damage on the Bill of Lading at delivery before signing.
About Direct Express Auto Transport
Direct Express Auto Transport has arranged car shipping from San Anselmo, California since 2003, according to its BBB file. The family-owned auto transport broker books open car shipping, enclosed auto transport and door-to-door delivery across the 48 contiguous states. Its FAQ says it doesn't currently handle Hawaii, Alaska or international shipments directly.
Every quote comes back with three prices: Standard, Expedited and Rush. The higher tiers put more money in front of drivers, which the company says moves your car up the dispatch line in busy seasons or on remote routes. Most vehicles land between $700 and $2,100 door to door, per its homepage. Rush still isn't a guarantee, the FAQ notes. Once a carrier is assigned at an Expedited or Rush rate, that price can't be changed, even if the truck showed up fast.
Securing a driver generally takes 3 to 5 days, the FAQ says, and loaded trucks cover about 500 miles a day. Cross-country trips usually take 7 to 10 days.
It ships sedans, SUVs, vans, pickups, classic cars and non-running vehicles that still roll, brake and steer. Snowbirds, students, military families and corporate movers each get a service page, and dealers can book pickups from Copart, Manheim and ADESA.
Your card is charged when a carrier is assigned, and the driver collects the rest at delivery. Cancel before pickup and the deposit is refunded in full, its terms say. Inoperable or oversized vehicles cost extra, and if you don't disclose them, the driver collects the difference in cash or money order.
Direct Express never takes possession of your vehicle. The company says each carrier it assigns must hold at least $150,000 in cargo insurance, and that policy covers the car. Note any damage on the Bill of Lading and file the claim in writing within 15 days.
The office is at 321 San Anselmo Avenue in San Anselmo, California, and the business was incorporated in July 2017. FMCSA lists it under USDOT 2231879 and MC-479342 with active broker authority. It has been BBB accredited since March 2017.
