American Auto Transportation Ltd
This company currently receives an AVOID verdict because FMCSA records show an inactive registration or operating authority required for its services. This is a regulatory concern, separate from customer reviews: positive feedback does not resolve it. We recommend choosing another provider unless updated FMCSA records confirm the required status is active.

About American Auto Transportation Ltd
American Auto Transport has moved vehicles out of the western Chicago suburbs since July 2004, according to its BBB file. The Downers Grove, Illinois, auto transport company handles open and enclosed car shipping with door-to-door service, and its website says it ships anywhere in the U.S. and overseas. The site describes a truck fleet, but it lists no USDOT or MC number, so you can't confirm from it whether the company hauls cars itself or books outside carriers.
Auction and dealer freight sit at the front of its pitch. The company says it moves single units or full truckloads, regular or oversized, to and from auto auctions nationwide. It also says it handles cars bought through electronic sales, which suits a dealer who buys online and needs the unit trucked home.
Staff call ahead to set pickup and delivery times. Loading takes a couple of days, the site says, and the distance decides the delivery date after that. No rate tiers or expedited option are published.
Beyond cars, the company lists trucks, buses, vans, 4x4s and motorcycles. Dealers and private owners each get a separate section of the site.
You won't find terms and conditions, a fee schedule or a cancellation policy on the website. The homepage calls the service insured but gives no policy limits or claim deadline. Ask for the hauling carrier's cargo certificate in writing before you book.
BBB lists American Auto Transport Inc at 1001 Ogden Ave, Suite 202, in Downers Grove, IL, with Rachel Kent as owner. It isn't BBB accredited. The company's own site gives a second Downers Grove address, 946 Clyde Avenue. Transportvibe's listing carries USDOT 2075191 and MC-712570 under the name American Auto Transportation Ltd, and FMCSA's SAFER system shows both numbers as inactive as of October 20, 2026.
